We were just thinking about how long we’ve been doing this for an article we are writing, and we realized that we started this lowly blog in November 2007. That, dear readers, means that we are 3 years old this month. We have published 485 posts in about 1,100 days, which is a fairly reasonable 0.44 posts a day. Since we have pretty full on day jobs, we’re quite proud of that.
So, happy birthday to us, and we hope that you will grin and bear us for another 3 years, during which time we hope the following will happen
- China will develop at least one truly world class music festival
- Independent artists will start to encroach on the mainstream, thus breaking the stranglehold of TV and traditional media
- Creators will actually start to get paid for their work and the successful ones will be able to give up their day jobs and focus on their craft full time
- Chinese bands will be able to tour the world as “artists”, not “Chinese artists”
By the way, we just bought a new calculator today (not a birthday present to us, we promise). It cost 10RMB which included a battery. How is that possible?
