Jeremy Goldkorn of Danwei fame recently interviewed Zebra Media’s CEO, Scarlett Li. Zebra Media were responsible for Chengdu’s first proper music festival, which happened this May and was reviewed by this here website. You can read our review HERE and you can see links to videos from the festival HERE.
The interview is an interesting one, mostly due to the insights she gives into doing business in the country, as well as explaining the basis for Zebra’s business. On the other hand, while we understand that promoters sometimes massage figures to make themselves look good, but what’s with the “estimation” of
150,000 people????????
C’mon Scarlett, Glastonbury only claims 170,000 and everyone we know that went put daily numbers at something between 5 and 10,000. These are still great numbers for an inaugural festival – why boost these numbers to such unreasonable levels…?? Hey, if you’d said 50-60,000, we wouldn’t have batted an eyelid.
You can see the interview here. Good work Danwei – they do acknowledge the poor sound quality on their site.
