Vladivostok – a sea-side city in a far-off corner of Russia – will be hosting V-Rox festival this week, from the 29th – 31st. This will be the festival’s second year, following a successful debut that attracted delegates from Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Africa and the USA.
The program is modest but varied, with panels centring on digital themes and performances showcasing Chinese acts including Cold Fairyland and Queen Sea Big Shark.
On August the 30th Split Works / Splatter co-founder Archie Hamilton will be talking on a panel called “Music tours in Asia — myths and reality”. He will also be joined by:
- Naoki Shimizu (Japan) — the president of Creativeman Productions., organiser of Summer Sonic
- Yoon Yung Kong (South Korea) — organizer of ZANDARI FESTA
- Rob Kelso (USA) — Creativeman Productions representative
UK singer-songwriter Jim Kroft will also be embarking on his Journeys tour, performing at several of the festival venues before making his way over for a 5-city tour of China. He’s doing a good job getting himself around, with an appearance at Modern Sky Festival and a residency at Jianghu Bar (Beijing) to boot.
We’ll update you with takeaways as we get them!
