We’ve taken a serious hit – one of our most cherished cultural resources is calling it a day. Over the last 3 years, Smart Beijing has produced some of the most amazing coverage of the underground music scene out there; partly due to the site’s reputation for not being crudely commercialized and (more so) due to the relationships of the editors to those making the moves.
Unlike some other expat rags, Morgan and Josh were (and still are) a part of the family that makes up Beijing’s creative circle. They told us things you couldn’t pay to hear elsewhere, and things we wouldn’t have paid for anyway but were still worth checking out.
Definitely check out / archive the “Culture Bureau” series. And keep an eye out for Josh and Morgan’s words – hopefully they’ll crop up somewhere else soon.
